Autogenous mills, or AG mills, can accomplish the same size reduction work as two or three stages of crushing and screening. Often used in grinding at modern mineral processing plants, AG mills reduce the material directly to the desired final size or prepare it for the following grinding stages.
We offer autogenous (AG), semiautogenous (SAG), ball, rod, and pebble mills in sizes ranging from kWs up to 30+ MW. Our product range also includes a number of unique solutions, including the world’s largest acidresistant grinding mills, which can operate with extremely corrosive slurry.
Mills that use intermediate size rock or pebbles as a grinding medium are also autogenous mills but are known as pebble mills. The disintegration and size reduction of ores in AG mills is brought about by a combination of impact, attrition and abrasion forces during mill rotation.
Since the early 1990s, we have been designing and manufacturing Semi Autogenous (SAG) and Autogenous (AG) Grinding Mills. SAG and AG Mills operate by lifting ore/grinding media and dropping it on the operating bed of the mill charge.
1/1/2016 Grinding mills in which comminution takes place without grinding aids are known as autogenous grinding (AG) mills or fully autogenous grinding (FAG) mills. These mills use large lumps of rock as the grinding media. Mills that use intermediate size rock or.
24/12/2020 Other articles where Autogenous mill is discussed: mineral processing: Grinding: Autogenous mills operate without grinding bodies; instead, the coarser part of the ore simply grinds itself and the smaller fractions. To semiautogenous mills (which have become widespread), 5 to 10 percent grinding bodies (usually metal spheres) are added.

Semi-autogenous grinding uses a minimal ball charge in the range of 6-15% while autogenous grinding uses ore only. SAG and AG Mills operate by lifting ore/grinding media and dropping it on the operating bed of the mill charge.
Every mining operation has a unique grinding process. Variable needs require versatile grinding equipment. TON Outotec offers flexible autogenous (AG) mills, semi-autogenous (SAG) mills, ball and pebble mills, as well as stirred mills to fit your needs.
